Our Sidewalk Cleaning Stain Removal Services
Removing gum from concrete sidewalks is one of the tougher challenges in sidewalk cleaning. The best methods for Chewing gum removal services depend on how much time the gum has had to penetrate the concrete. Gum that was left recently has had no time to penetrate concrete; this gum can be removed by covering it with ice, which freezes and solidifies the gum into a workable substance instead of a warm and stringy mess. This substance can then be easily scraped off with a metal putty knife; the entire piece should peel right off the concrete, leaving no residue behind.
However, gum that has turned black, or been compressed into the concrete by people walking on it, requires more advanced cleaning methods – the opposite, in fact. Heat! The ideal method of removing this gum is a pressure washer that can heat water to about 200 degrees. This heat melts the gum away while posing no danger to the heat-resistant concrete. This method also removes the need for high water pressure, which can damage concrete surfaces. Indeed, the industry rule is to never use more pressure than you need to clean concrete, as it is more vulnerable to the type of treatment than one would think – especially new concrete surfaces. Concrete can take up to 100 years to cure completely, so always begin the cleaning process with hot water and only increased to the least amount of pressure possible to remove the gum.
Our Chewing Gum Removal Services
To remove chewing gum from sidewalks and other surfaces, Commercial Restorations uses custom designed hot water pressure washing equipment like the surface cleaner shown here, and special soaps and detergents that enable us to clean the surface without causing any damage.
Using special 200 degree hot water pressure washers and low pressure, we can safely remove chewing gum and surface dirt while protecting the surface. Our method will also destroy bacteria and viruses that are commonly found in gum, and which may have transferred to the concrete.
By hiring Commercial Restorations for regular sidewalk cleaning maintenance at your properties, your property will be dirt-free, gum-free, and have a cleaner and healthier overall appearance! You will additionally prevent damage to carpets and other flooring that can result from visitors tracking these substances inside.
Removing Rust Stains From Concrete and Brick Sidewalks
Rust stains are another problem we can perform with sidewalk cleaning. A lot of things can cause rust stains. Nails, exposed steel fasteners and brackets, steel legs on benches, tables, or chairs, flower pots and other metal items.
If metal is exposed to the weather, it will rust, so make sure any steel items exposed to the elements are coated in a paint or epoxy to avoid them from rusting.
Commercial Restorations uses a variety of acid based cleaning solutions from Sun Brite Supply to remove rust and other mineral stains. Products like Brick Clean and F9, are Battery Acid Restoration Cleaners which slowly dissolves the rust and mineral deposits using chemistry.
